News — Stirling based Snowie Group sold to Irish investors

The Snowie Group, owned by the Snowie brothers, Malcolm, Alistair, Gordon and Euan and their mother Sheila, and based at the family farm of East Gogar, Stirling, has been sold to Oran Waste UK Limited which is part of the Oran Group of Companies from Cork, Ireland.

Snowie is one of the UK’s largest privately owned Waste Management Companies which has grown from its agricultural roots over the last 20 years.

Managing Director Malcolm Snowie said "We are delighted to have concluded a sale with Oran which like Snowie is a private family owned company who we know will continue the successful track record of growth which we have achieved over the last 20 years. The Snowie family will be working with the Oran Waste directors for an extended period of time to ensure a smooth handover and the continuing growth of the business. We are retaining ownership of our farming operation and Northern Hydroseeding Limited as well as our overseas business interests."

Snowie Group had a turnover of about £30 million in 2004 and employs over 300 people throughout the UK principally involved in treating, processing and recycling organic wastes to agricultural land for many of the UK’s major water companies, brewers, distilleries and food processors. In recent years the group has diversified its interests with the establishment of dry waste recycling facilities at Grangemouth as well as warehousing and storage facilities in Scotland and England.
