Wednesday 15 November 2006

The Oran Group, a Scottish based leading, energy-led waste management company, today announced that they have formed a strategic partnership with Northern Irish Biomass Company Rural Generation Limited.

By combining the experience and expertise of both companies, this partnership will enable Rural Generation Limited to provide customers with a holistic range of waste to energy services, including biomass energy production and liquid waste recycling services e.g. utilising waste-water and bio-waste recycling to grow short rotation willows to produce wood chip fuel.

The strategic partnership with the Oran Group will allow Rural Generation Limited to accelerate the extension of its operations into a wider geographic area, including the Republic of Ireland and throughout the UK, including Scotland.

Rural Generation Limited is a recognised market leader in the biomass sector, providing both environmental and energy solutions throughout Ireland and the UK.  The company specialises in using willow technology - both as an energy source and as an effective method of recycling waste-water, bio-waste and industrial effluent.

The Oran Group, with head-offices near Stirling, Scotland and in Cork, Ireland, currently employs 320 people throughout the UK and Ireland with a turnover in excess of £30M.  The Group provides a complete range of integrated waste management services, for liquid, solid and dry waste materials.  At present, the company beneficially recycles in excess of one-million tonnes of bio-solids per annum to agricultural land throughout the UK, in full compliance with all relevant regulations and codes of practice.

The Oran Group seeks to develop and deliver innovative closed loop solutions and the Group is currently producing a range of biofuels, which they anticipate using as a source of heat and energy for their own existing and future development projects including hotels, housing developments and offices.  The Group is also developing a pioneering waste to energy plant in Scotland, which will provide a long term sustainable outlet for waste material.

John Gilliland, Chairman of Rural Generation Limited said “This new venture with the Oran Group provides Rural Generation Limited with a platform from which we can develop our wood-energy and willow technology services and extend our activities into new geographical markets”.

Speaking on behalf of the Oran Group, Pat Condon, Business Development Director said “We are delighted to have joined forces with Rural Generation Limited and look forward to building a long term working relationship with them that will allow us to deliver an unrivalled closed loop ‘waste to energy’ service for our property and waste-services customers.“
