Tuesday 17 April 2007

OTW Services Limited, a joint venture between the Oran Group and Thames Water, has been awarded a four-year contract worth an estimated £24 million by Scottish Water.

Under the contract, OTW Services Limited will deliver a range of high quality, tailored waste management services on behalf of Scottish Water across Scotland.  Key services will include the intersite tankering of waste water; the provision of biosolid recycling processes to ensure the safe treatment and disposal of water sludges and other organic wastes; and management services for over 2,500 skips belonging to Scottish Water’s Central East division, encompassing Lanarkshire, Lothian and Borders, Fife, Tayside and Forth Valley.

The majority of this contract, which will involve 30 staff, will be undertaken from the company’s headquarters in Grangemouth.   The contract is the first for the new company which began trading in October 2006.  Both organisations recently combined their expertise to provide innovative and high quality services within the waste management and water industries.

Ben Ballantyne, Operations Director of the Oran Group, said: “We are delighted to have secured this contract with Scottish Water, who have recognised the many benefits – including the experience and expertise that our company can offer in the field of waste management and recycling. “Being awarded the contract so soon after the formation of OTW Services Limited, confirms the value and potential of the partnership between the Oran Group and Thames Water.  We are now looking forward to commencing the contract and strengthening our relationship with Scottish Water, whilst increasing the market presence of OTW Services Limited.”

Andrew Neilson, Supplier Development Manager of Scottish Water, added: “OTW Services were appointed after a rigorous tendering process.  Scottish Water welcomes them as a key supplier and will work with them to deliver efficiencies in our waste management process, helping to ensure that Scottish Water delivers its regulatory targets.”
