News — ORAN LEADING THE WAY WITH 24 NEW EURO 5 VEHICLES

Wednesday 2 May 2007

The Oran Group has taken delivery of their first Euro 5 emission level compliant vehicles.  The Euro 5 vehicles, which will become mandatory in 2009, provide a reduction in gas emissions which are proven to be harmful to the environment.

The 24 new Renault HGV units are to undertake tankering services on two key contracts, one of which will be managed by OTW Services Ltd, the Oran Group’s joint venture with Thames Water. This venture, which was recently awarded a £24m contract by Scottish Water, operates eco-friendly services including recycling liquid waste, primarily waste water, for various organisations throughout the UK and Ireland. The remaining trucks will be deployed in the Midlands on the Severn Trent Water contract operated by Oran Recycling Limited.

Roger Buick, Operations Director of The Oran Group says: “As an environmentally aware company we were particularly keen to start upgrading to Euro 5 vehicles as soon as possible.”

Oran is a leader within the waste management industry and thus strives to protect the environment, whilst delivering a high quality service to customers.”

“In addition, as a market leader the Oran Group endeavours to remain ahead of legislation and to remain at the forefront of the waste management industry.”
