News — Oran Group Assist in Flood Aid Efforts

Wednesday 1 August 2007

The Oran Group have been helping to assist flood-hit areas in the West of England in conjunction with Severn Trent Water.

Within a few hours of receiving the initial phone call, the Oran Group had mobilised five tankers to transport and distribute fresh water throughout the affected area.  These tankers have since been operating 24 hours a day, helping the tens of thousands of people who lost running water supplies when the floods hit more than a week ago.

As the requirement for fresh water intensified, the Group stepped up their efforts to assist by immediately assigning a team of employees whose job has been to monitor fresh water bowsers on a continual basis.

The Group’s fast and efficient responses and co-operation were directed at helping to ease the distress of those affected.

David Ireland, Director of the Oran Group, thanked the entire Oran team for their efforts which made this part of the relief operation possible.

“We are happy that our team was able to play a small yet vital part within this relief operation.  We collectively recognised how crucial it was that fresh water reached the flood hit areas as soon as possible and we hope that our fast response helped to lessen the suffering of those concerned”.
